Relief Food Distribution for Families in Informal Settlements

Recognising the acute food insecurity faced by families living in informal settlements, the Maina Karobia Foundation mounted a comprehensive relief food distribution exercise. The initiative was designed not merely as emergency relief but as a demonstration of solidarity with the most vulnerable members of society — those who often fall through the cracks of formal social protection systems. The distribution exercise reached over 700 households, providing essential food supplies to families who would otherwise have gone without. The exercise was conducted with dignity and order, ensuring that every beneficiary was attended to personally and with care.

Support to Quality Education — Geometrical Sets for Examination Candidates

Education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, and the Maina Karobia Foundation is deeply committed to ensuring that no student's potential is limited by a lack of basic learning materials. In a targeted intervention ahead of national examinations, the foundation distributed geometrical sets to 615 candidates sitting examinations in Thika constituency. This initiative reflects the foundation's understanding that academic success requires not only talent and effort, but also the right tools. By providing these essential mathematical instruments, the foundation removed a practical barrier that could have disadvantaged students from low-income backgrounds, giving each candidate an equal footing as they prepared for their examinations.

Championing Talent — Football Kits Donation to Young Squad FC, Gatuanyaga

Sport is a powerful vehicle for youth development, social cohesion, and talent discovery. The Maina Karobia Foundation, through its 'Champion Talent and Innovation Development' pillar, donated a full set of football kits and footballs to the Young Squad football team at Gatuanyaga. This gesture was more than a material donation — it was an investment in the aspirations of young people who see football as a pathway to a better future. Cumulatively, the foundation has assisted 4 football teams with kits and training support, nurturing athletic talent and providing structured sporting environments for youth who might otherwise lack access to organised sports. The initiative has been warmly received by local communities and has strengthened the foundation's bond with the youth it serves.

Environmental Conservation — Tree Planting in Kiambu County Schools

The Maina Karobia Foundation is a passionate advocate for environmental stewardship. Understanding that the health of our communities is inseparable from the health of our natural environment, the foundation spearheaded a large-scale tree planting initiative around schools in Kiambu county. The campaign resulted in the planting of over 3,000 trees, transforming school environments into greener, more conducive spaces for learning. Conducted in the spirit of Kenya's Mazingira Day, the initiative brought together students, teachers, and community members in a collective act of environmental responsibility. Beyond the immediate ecological benefits, the exercise served as a powerful civic education moment, instilling in the younger generation a sense of ownership over their natural heritage and a commitment to its preservation.
